Before you connect
Choose between this and the Flex Web Service first. SnapTrade brings new trades in by itself, a day behind, but no futures; the Flex Web Service brings futures and imports when you run a sync. Use one of them for each account.
In the IBKR Portal
Sign in to the account you want
Sign in to the IBKR Portal as the account you want Leaf Edge to read. IBKR ties the SnapTrade token to the account you're signed in to, and its account selector can't switch it.
Open Third-Party Reports
Open Performance & Reports → Third-Party Reports (or Menu → Reporting → Third-Party Reports).
Turn on SnapTrade
In the Third-Party Services panel, click the gear icon at its top right. Tick SnapTrade and press Save.
Copy the Query ID and the Token
The SnapTrade row now shows a Query ID, the shorter number, and a Token, the longer one, with the date the token expires. Copy both, and keep them out of messages and screenshots.
In Leaf Edge
Open the SnapTrade connection
Sign in to Leaf Edge and open Sync. Choose SnapTrade connection, then press Connect Broker. Leaf Edge takes you to SnapTrade's connection page, where you pick Interactive Brokers.
In SnapTrade
Choose Interactive Brokers
In SnapTrade's list of brokerages, find Interactive Brokers and select it. The first time you connect, SnapTrade asks you to accept its terms; read them and continue.
Paste the Query ID and the Token
When SnapTrade asks for them, paste the Query ID and the Token from step 4 and connect. Keep the window open while SnapTrade checks them. If it rejects them, copy both again from Third-Party Reports.
Back in Leaf Edge
Back in Leaf Edge
When the connection is made, SnapTrade sends you back to Leaf Edge, which shows Broker connected. Under Connected Brokers the account shows Connecting until Interactive Brokers releases its data, then Connected. Interactive Brokers usually releases the first data 24 to 48 hours after you turn SnapTrade on, and longer over a weekend or a holiday.
From then on Leaf Edge checks for new activity by itself: there is nothing to press.
The token's expiry date
IBKR shows an expiry date beside the token. After that date the connection stops bringing trades in until you connect again with a new token from Third-Party Reports.
To stop sharing from IBKR's side, untick SnapTrade in the same Third-Party Services settings and save.
What comes in
- Your trades, read-only: Leaf Edge asks SnapTrade for data access only, so it can't place, change or cancel an order, and can't move money.
- SnapTrade updates transactions once a day, a day behind, so today's trades arrive tomorrow. Leaf Edge doesn't bring futures in through SnapTrade.
- Stocks and options. For futures, use the Flex Web Service.
- A connected account doesn't prove every trade reached your journal: compare a few with Interactive Brokers' own statement.
Accounts and plans
SnapTrade connections are on Pro and Ultimate. Pro connects up to 5 broker accounts and Ultimate has no limit. If a connection would take you over your plan's limit, Leaf Edge says Broker account limit reached and adds no account. On Free, import a file from Interactive Brokers instead.
If the connection drops, or you want to stop
- If Interactive Brokers ends the authorisation, Sync shows Broker Connection Needs Reconnecting and the account Reconnect needed. Press Reconnect and connect Interactive Brokers again with a current Query ID and Token for the same account; Leaf Edge matches the account by its number, and your trades stay where they are.
- Disconnect, in the account's menu under Connected Accounts, removes the connection and deletes the trades it imported from your journal.
One way in for each account
Use one way in for each account. A file import and a SnapTrade connection for the same account can count the same trade twice. A direct API sync of an account that SnapTrade already imports is refused, and nothing is imported.

Then review your first trade
Once your trades are in, each one has its own page: link it to a playbook or mark it as an honest skip, grade it, and note what you planned, what you did and what you learned. How a trade review works.
