Before you start

Schwab approves each app that connects through SnapTrade. If Schwab isn't offered in SnapTrade's list when you connect, write to us.

In Leaf Edge

  1. Open the SnapTrade connection

Sign in to Leaf Edge and open Sync. Choose SnapTrade connection, then press Connect Broker. Leaf Edge takes you to SnapTrade's connection page, where you pick Charles Schwab.

In SnapTrade and Charles Schwab

  1. Choose Charles Schwab

In SnapTrade's list of brokerages, find Charles Schwab and select it. The first time you connect, SnapTrade asks you to accept its terms; read them and continue. SnapTrade then sends you to Schwab.

  2. Sign in at Schwab

Sign in on Schwab's own site with your Schwab login ID and password, and enter Schwab's security code if it asks. Your password stays with Schwab: SnapTrade and Leaf Edge never see it.

  3. Choose accounts and accept Schwab's agreement

Choose the accounts to share, then review and accept Schwab's access agreement. Schwab sends you back to SnapTrade, which finishes the connection.

We couldn't confirm this step's labels on Charles Schwab's own help pages. If your screen differs, tell us and we'll correct this guide.

Back in Leaf Edge

  1. Back in Leaf Edge

When the connection is made, SnapTrade sends you back to Leaf Edge, which shows Broker connected. Under Connected Brokers the account shows Connecting until Charles Schwab releases its data, then Connected.

From then on Leaf Edge checks for new activity by itself: there is nothing to press.

Stopping it from Schwab's side

In the Schwab app, open your profile icon, then Security Settings → Third Party Access, choose the app and switch accounts off, or stop linking altogether.

What comes in

  • Your trades, read-only: Leaf Edge asks SnapTrade for data access only, so it can't place, change or cancel an order, and can't move money.
  • SnapTrade updates transactions once a day, a day behind, so today's trades arrive tomorrow. Leaf Edge doesn't bring futures in through SnapTrade.
  • Stocks, ETFs and options. SnapTrade gives each Schwab trade a date but not a time of day.
  • A connected account doesn't prove every trade reached your journal: compare a few with Charles Schwab's own statement.

Accounts and plans

SnapTrade connections are on Pro and Ultimate. Pro connects up to 5 broker accounts and Ultimate has no limit. If a connection would take you over your plan's limit, Leaf Edge says Broker account limit reached and adds no account. On Free, import a file from Charles Schwab instead.

If the connection drops, or you want to stop

  • If Charles Schwab ends the authorisation, Sync shows Broker Connection Needs Reconnecting and the account Reconnect needed. Press Reconnect and connect Charles Schwab again with the same login; Leaf Edge matches the account by its number, and your trades stay where they are.
  • Disconnect, in the account's menu under Connected Accounts, removes the connection and deletes the trades it imported from your journal.

One way in for each account

Use one way in for each account. A file import and a SnapTrade connection for the same account can count the same trade twice. A direct API sync of an account that SnapTrade already imports is refused, and nothing is imported.

Where these steps come from

These steps come from the official help pages, read on 23 October 2026. We haven't followed them on a real Charles Schwab account yet. Menus move from time to time; if yours doesn't match, these pages have the current path:

Then review your first trade

Once your trades are in, each one has its own page: link it to a playbook or mark it as an honest skip, grade it, and note what you planned, what you did and what you learned. How a trade review works.
